After a three months hiatus occasioned by the COVID 19 pandemic, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has disclosed that the Abuja-Kaduna railway will resume operations on July 29, 2020.
He disclosed this in a Tweet posted on his Twitter handle during the inspection of the new coaches on the rail line while noting that health measures such as social distancing will be enforced.

“Abuja-Kaduna train service will resume operations on Wednesday, July 29, 2020. We just conducted the inspection of the new coaches on the Abuja-Kaduna railway. Social distancing is set as the new normal with end to end sitting arrangement” he said.
The Minister had disclosed in June that the country was not in a hurry to start train operations due to the danger of the pandemic.
“When we start, all health and safety protocols must apply. You will not enter a train if you don’t adhere to our rules. The train will not move if passengers do not comply” he said.
Recall that a few days ago, Amaechi made a big announcement on the Itakpe-Warri standard gauge line.

“Today, we continued test-run of our new coaches on the completed Itakpe-Warri standard gauge rail line. We have named the largest station on this route – the Agbor railway facility and station after former President Goodluck Jonathan” he said at the time.
The rail line has a length of 276 km that links Warri in Delta State to Ajaokuta in Kogi State together.
