OKOWA AND CHIEF IBORI
Under the leadership of Chief James Ibori, Okowa first served as the commissioner for agriculture and natural resources between July 1999 and April 2001, later as commissioner for water resources development from April 2001 to May 2003 and thereafter as commissioner for health from September 2003 to October 2006.
In 2014, Chief Ibori stood by Okowa and made him the governorship candidate of the PDP.
The ungrateful Okowa has today paid Chief Ibori back with betrayal and disgrace. He stopped his preferred governorship candidate from emerging, almost stopped his daughter from getting the House of Reps ticket of the PDP (Ibori had to deploy heavy dough to lobby party delegates to vote for his daughter). Today, Chief Ibori is being talked down on by Okowa’s Ika boys, calling him all sorts of names and saying that he has been retired politically by Okowa.
OKOWA AND DR UDUAGHAN
In Dr Uduaghan’s first term, he appointed Okowa as secretary to the state government (SSG) and supported him to go to the Senate from 2011 – 2015 before he became Governor. Note, they have always been friends as they both served as commissioners in the State Executive Council under Chief James Ibori.
In 2019, Uduaghan wanted to go to the Senate but Okowa frustrated him and pushed him out of the party. He did it again this year and Uduaghan made it clear that he is no longer interested. However, he wants his daughter to go to the State House of Assembly, but Okowa refused. The same Okowa gave his own daughter, Marilyn who is friends with Orode Uduaghan an automatic House of Assembly ticket after ordering Barr. Uzum and others to step down and abandon their political ambition.
OKOWA AND SENATOR JAMES MANAGER
Okowa and Senator Manager both served in Chief Ibori’s administration, and they are friends. Okowa later joined Manager in the Senate in 2011. When he wanted to run for Governor in 2015, he got the then Senate President David Mark to broker a deal between the two of them. They met and agreed that Okowa will support Senator Manager after doing his two terms as Governor to take over from him. Today, he has left Senator James Manager behind with “had I known”.
In Delta State, we have TEN House of Reps members in the National Assembly. Recently, Okowa bought NINE brand new Toyota Prado jeeps for the NINE PDP Reps and left Honourable Francis Waive, the only APC Reps out.
The time has come to confront that REAL danger that OKOWA represents and to say NO without fear or favour. There must be no equivocation nor apology in rejecting this man who represents the very problems that we want to eradicate in our State and Country to open the doors of development.
We CANNOT be fooled by images of a quiet man who is but a green snake in green grass. Okowa has not been quiet in stealing our money and to open our doors to him once again in Abuja or in Asaba by proxy, to bring us ‘Business as Usual’ will be the worse mistake in the history of Delta State and Nigeria. We say NO to business as usual because it is not good enough for our State and Country.
