The campaign committee of President of the United States, Joe Biden, has called on the electorate to keep former President Donald Trump out of the government.

The Democrat’s campaign, reacting to the conviction of Trump, described it as a commendable development, emphasising that the judgment has shown that no one is above the law.

Biden campaign’s communications director, Michael Tyler, in a statement issued on Friday, May 31, also issued a warning to American citizens, saying that they should use their power to prevent Trump from returning to the White House.

Tyler said: “In New York today (yesterday, May 30), we saw that no one is above the law. But today’s verdict does not change the fact that the American people face a simple reality. There is still only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: at the ballot box.”

The New Diplomat reports that Trump was found guilty on all charges in his New York “hush money” trial.

A jury found the Republican presidential frontrunner guilty of falsifying business records to conceal a $130,000 payment to adult porn star, Stormy Daniels, to buy her silence before the 2016 presidential election.

With the conviction, Trump becomes the first former president of the US to be convicted of a crime.

Trump’s sentencing date has been scheduled for July 11 by Judge Juan Merchan.
