Marwa, A Man of Uncommon Grace at 72

By Femi Babafemi I have had the privilege of knowing Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) for about 30 years. As a young reporter, I observed from a working distance the metamorphosis of a military administrator who was unlike any other—an enigma committed as much to his work as to becoming a paragon of excellence…

The Presidency has revealed that it will not publicise the names of financiers of terrorism.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina made this known during an interview on Channels Television adding that the government is rather interested in ensuring that justice is served and all indicted individuals face the wrath of law.

This is coming after a former Navy Commodore, Kunle Olawunmi, had alleged that some political office holders in the country are sponsporing terrorists organisations.

Olawunmi also said that some people in government know the name of the financiers but are shielding the bad elements from facing justice.

Also, days ago authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) published a list wherein six Nigerians were fingered to have ties with the insurgent group Boko Haram. The six Nigerians were said to have been allegedly financing the Boko Haram.

Adesina said, “Naming and shaming won’t be the motive. Rather, bringing malefactors to justice would be it. Nigeria is not interested in naming and shaming anybody. Rather, it wants to bring them to justice.

“You will see that the United Arab Emirates has given some names, and the attorney-general of the federation has responded to that matter, saying that in due course, all these people will have their days in court.

“Rest assured that these people will be dragged before justice and justice will have its way.”
