About three buildings  were  reportedly burnt down on Saturday evening by protesters  at Evwreni, a  community  located in Ughelli North local government area of Delta State.

The houses were reportedly set ablaze following unverified reports that one Mr Tuesday Okuah, the Evwreni community Chairman has died while allegedly in custody of  police investigating and monitoring  team  in Abuja.

It was not clear how exactly the reported arson started on Saturday evening. However,  media  reports indicate that so far about three houses have been razed to the ground.

It would be recalled that there have been widespread media reports about escalating tension in Evwreni community over alleged  crisis arising from reported cases of leadership tussle which had ruptured hitherto existing peace in the area.

Repeated efforts to reach Force Headquarters  Public Relations spokesman, Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Frank Mba  were unsuccessful as at the time of filing this report.
