Tension has been escalating within the Okuama community, located in the Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State as the atmosphere has become increasingly charged, with concerns mounting among residents.

This is as an 81-year-old treasurer of Okuama community, Dennis Okugbaye has reportedly passed away in military detention facilities.

Okugbaye’s demise comes barely six days after the community’s President-General, Pa James Oghoroko, was reported to have passed away in military detention?facilities as well.

The demise of Okugbaye was announced by his son, Pastor Akpos Okugbaye, amid tears.

The announcement sent shockwaves through the already mourning community.

It would be recalled that Pa Oghoroko and Okugbaye were arrested in August 2024 alongside Prof Arthur Ekpekpo, Chief Belvis Adogbo, Pa Anthony Ahwemuria and Mrs Rita Akata, and all of them have remained in unknown detentions since.

The arrest followed the killing of 17 military officers who were reportedly on a peace mission in the community on March 14, 2024.
