A tragedy of unimaginable proportions hit the family of the Secretary to the Sokoto State Government, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Sifawa, in the early hours of Monday (today).

This is as the politician lost a daughter and 3 of her children as a result of a fire incident which started on Sunday midnight.

According to reports, the SSG’s daughter was a housewife to the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Sports and Youths Development Alhaji Muhammadu Yusuf Bello.

It was gathered that the fire which started in the still of the night engulfed the entire house while the family were fast asleep.

According to reports, only the husband, who could quickly rouse himself from sleep, but unable to put out the fire, survived the incident.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation as men of the state fire service battled for hours before they could quench it.

The remains of the deceased housewife and her 3 children are slated for burial at Sheikh Shehu Usmanu Danfodiyo Mosque Sifawa at about midday today.

The internment will take place at the family home of the SSG who is a father to the deceased housewife.

Stream of sympathisers has already started trooping to the SSG’s abode.

Prominent among those already in the compound are Sokoto Deputy Governor, Eng. idirs Mohammed Gobir, some members of the state executive council, and many stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress (APC) too numerous to mention.
