The Katsina State Government has announced the passing of Hajiya Safara’u Umaru Barebari, the beloved mother of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

It was gathered that the matriarch, aged 93, departed this world in the early hours of Sunday after a brief illness.

The news was confirmed in a statement released on Sunday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed.

“With profound sadness, the Government of Katsina State announces the passing of Hajiya Safara’u Umaru Barebari, the beloved mother of Governor Dikko Radda,” the statement reads in part.

The New Diplomat reports that Hajiya Safara’u was a respected figure in Katsina State, known for her kindness, wisdom, and generosity.

Among her notable children are Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, the current Village Head of Radda, Alhaji Kabir Umar Radda, and Hajiya Hauwa Umar Radda, the former wife of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua.

The late matriarch’s burial took place at 4:00 PM on Sunday in Radda Village, Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State, by Islamic rites.
