A former Sokoto State Governor and current Senator representing Sokoto South Senatorial district of Sokoto State at the Senate, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has accused President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of undermining opposition political parties.

In a fiery interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Tambuwal accused the APC of allegedly orchestrating deliberate efforts to destabilize opposition parties in Nigeria.

During the interview, Tambuwal, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), claimed that Tinubu and the APC are allegedly engaged in a calculated plot to weaken opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He alleged that the ruling party is using coercion, propaganda, and economic distress to pressure opposition politicians into defecting to the APC.

Tambuwal pointed to recent defections from the PDP to the APC, arguing that these movements are not driven by ideological alignment but what he described as desperation caused by economic hardships under Tinubu’s administration.

He said: “When you look at what is happening in various political parties in Nigeria today — you don’t need to be told, no matter the amount of denial by whoever, including President Bola Tinubu, that they are not involved in destabilization efforts of opposition parties. It is incorrect.

“I am not accusing them. I am saying they are involved in efforts aimed at destabilising opposition parties.”

When asked about facts to back up his allegation, Tambuwal insisted, “I am saying, I am not suspecting. They are involved in all of this.”
