Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen struck Monday and kidnapped Mr. Godwin Aigbogun, the chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ugu Ward, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State.

Full details of the incident were still sketchy as at the time of filing this report but a close source, however, explained that Aigbogun was kidnapped while on his way home from the farm in the evening.

The source, a chieftain of the APC in Ugu who refused to disclose his identity said: “I have just been informed that the APC Chairman in Ugu Ward (9) of Orhionmwon Local Government Area was kidnapped this evening on his way home from the farm in our village, Ologbo-nugu, my place of birth by suspected Fulani herdsmen.”

The scene of crime is under the Iguelaba Police Division, close to both Urhonigbe and Ugo Police Divisions.

Several attempts to get across to Mr. Chidi Nwanbuzor, the Edo State Police spokesman proved abortive as his mobile phone was serially engaged.
