Interim coach of the Super Eagles, Austine Eguavoen has reiterated that the senior national team can lift the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations regardless of the time frame left for them to prepare.

Eguavoen made this known in an interview with newsmen, where he said that he’s optimistic of Nigeria’s chances at the tournament in Cameroon.

Recall that the three-time AFCON champions are pitted alongside Egypt, Guinea-Bissau and Sudan in Group D, with the team facing the Pharaohs in the opening game on January 11.

“Yes. You don’t go to war without thinking about winning. We have to also take it step by step. Most teams going to the AFCON there aspire to win it. But we have to take it a game at a time.”

It’s hard to say yes or no, but we guarantee to make them happy.

“Luck also plays a part, we’ll do our own work and we are certain of the support and we’ll just take the games one at a time.”
