The prime suspect in the murder of the Chief Executive Officer of Super TV, Usifo Ataga, Chidinma Ojukwu has been remanded by Yaba Magistrates’ Court in Sabo, Lagos State.

The Chief Magistrate Adeola Adedayo on Monday ruled that Chidinma be remanded for 30 days.

The Chief Magistrate who also remanded Ojukwu’s co-defendant Adedapo Quadri on the same terms, made the order following an application by the police.

Pending the issuance of a Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) report on the matter, Police counsel Cyril Ejiofor urged the court to remand both first defendant Ojukwu and second defendant Quadri.

However, the Director, Office of the Public Defender (OPD), Dr Babajide Martins, who observed that the prosecution failed to furnish him with the remand application, did not oppose Ejiofor’s prayer “on principle.”

Granting the prosecution’s prayer, Mrs Adedayo adjourned the case till September 5, for review of remand.

“In the absence of any opposition, the two defendants are hereby remanded for 30 days in the first instance.

“The case is hereby adjourned till September 5, for review of remand/DPP’s advice.”

The defendant relatives and well-wishers, including her sister, were all in courtroom to witness the beginning of proceedings.

It was reported recently that more suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of the Chief Executive Officer, Super TV, Mr  Usifo Ataga, whose lifeless body was found in a short-let service apartment in Lekki area of Lagos, last month.

This is just as the command has established a case of conspiracy in the ongoing investigation into the murder case.

One of the suspects, a male, is said to be related to Chidinma Ojukwu, the 300 Level Mass Communication student of the University of Lagos and the prime suspect in the murder saga.

Another suspect is a young man who Chidinma mentioned in the course of her interrogation with detectives at the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Yaba.
