The Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, held at the National Arcade, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja is an annual celebration to offer prayers to those who paid the supreme price in the battle to enthrone peace in the nation.

However, it is dual celebration to mark the end of the World War 1 and II and most especially to mark the end of the Nigerian Civil War of January 15, 1966-1970.

The Director, Chaplain Services, Roman Catholic, Nigerian Airforce, Group Captain Pasau, and the Director, Islamic Affairs, Nigerian Army, Birgadier General Mustafa, for both Christian and Islamic faiths prayed for the souls of the fallen heroes and their families.

Top government officials who participated in the wreaths laying include: the Senate President, Dr Ahmed Lawan; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; and the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Muhammad.

Others include: Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha; Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari; the Minister for the FCT, Mallam Mohammed Bello, among others.
