A source from the School told The New Diplomat that the classroom teacher in Erhemu Secondary School, a graduate of Delta State University, Abraka, Mr. Ezeugo Joseph, was beaten to death by one Michael Ogbeife, an SS3 student of the school, for flogging his younger sister named Promise.

The source further claimed that, provoked by the alleged flogging, Ogbeife, left the school premises and on his return, headed straight to the staff room where he attacked the teacher with punches until he collapsed, vomiting blood. The deceased was reportedly rushed to a private hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Another source however told our correspondent that the Agricultural Science teacher was attacked by a gang of angry students who inflicted machete cuts on him and thereafter, pushed him down from the second floor of the school building.
He was said to have bled from a gash in his head and died on the spot.

The School proprietor, Mr. Erhimu, was reported to have said he lacked full detail of the incident, claiming to be away from the School when it happened.
“I was not in school when the incident happened,” he was quoted as saying, just as he directed the closure of the School till next week when the detail, according to him, will be available.

When contacted, the State Police Command PPRO, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, adding that investigation was ongoing.
