The Oyo State government on Friday received a delegation from Southwest governors including Osun, Ogun, Ekiti, and Lagos to offer their condolences to the family of the late Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

They were received by Governor Seyi Makinde who was represented by his deputy governor, Adebayo Lawal.

The governors gathered at the Governor’s Office to pay their respects and offer condolences to the Akeredolu family at their private residence in Jericho, Ibadan.

It would be recalled that on Wednesday Akeredolu died in Lagos at the age of 67.

According to the Ondo State Government, the former governor died of prostate cancer. He was reportedly scheduled to travel abroad to continue with his treatment.

Prior to his death, he was advised to hand over power to his deputy, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa in acting capacity until his return but unfortunately death laid its cold hands on him.

However, Aiyedatiwa was sworn in as governor of Ondo State a few hours after Akeredolu’s death.
