George Gbagi and Emuoboh Gbagi, two sons of late billionaire businessman and former Minister of State for Education, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi are currently locked in a heated dispute over who is the first son of the late politician.
This is as both George and Emuoboh have been claiming and making counter claims to be the eldest son of late Ken Gbagi.
The New Diplomat reports that Gbagi, a former Minister of State for Education and industrialist, passed away on May 4, 2024, at the age of 62 years.
Late Gbagi, was also the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) during the 2023 governorship election in Delta State. He was reported to have breathed his last in a Lagos State hospital after a brief illness.
Following his demise, Emuoboh issued a press statement to confirm the demise of his father.
In the statement, Emuoboh described himself as the eldest son of the former minister of State.
However, in a shocking turn of events, George countered and declared that he was the eldest son of the late billionaire businessman and politician.
George also disowned Emuoboh, saying he should not call himself as the eldest son.
In a viral video, George said he decided to set the record straight against the backdrop of an earlier publication by Emuoboh.
He also accused Emuoboh of trying to usurp his position and making false claims about him.
George said: “I am George Gbagi, the first son of Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi… I want to state unequivocally that the Gbagi family is a highly reputed, disciplined, and united family.
“When people try to say things that are not protrude just have to come out and address it because, as I said earlier, it touches on the very foundation of my existence. That’s why this disclaimer became very necessary.
“Who goes about selling his father’s properties three days before his father’s burial and you telling everybody you’re the first son?… Here is a young man who has been fighting and is still fighting his father’s widow, sending people to my father’s house in Abuja, sending his sister to the house in the UK to break into it.
“I don’t need to state the kind of people that were calling me to say, ah, your father just passed; why are you people putting all of his properties for sale?
“If I am well over and above 45 years and Emuoboh says he is 39 years old, how then is he Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi’s first son?
“In any case, I also have a younger brother who is the second son of Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi, so if Emuobo is anything, if indeed he is Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi’s son, he will be nothing but Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi’s third son”, he declared.
In his own reaction, Emuoboh who might have chosen to ignore the so-called son who surfaced from the blues showed a poster of George with a different surname inscribed on the poster when he was contesting for a House of Assembly elections last year.
