Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, demonstrated benevolence as he approves the sum of N2 million cash gift to support the couple who gave birth to a set of quintuplets in Awka.

The state Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, who made the disclosure, said the support came after the Onitsha based couple, Mr and Mrs Tochukwu Amaechi, delivered a set of quintuplets at a private hospital in Awka.

She announced that the money which was currently being processed by the ministry was a token for the well-being of the quintuplets, three males and two females who were delivered on March 29, 2023.

The Commissioner said Soludo’s monetised support would be sent to the family immediately after the ministry has done processing it.

Earlier, the mother, Chidinma Amaechi, said her journey to the delivery of her quintuplets generated the mixed feelings and challenges, adding that she prayed for a set of twins, but God gave her five babies.

“After waiting for nine years for children, I started praying to God for twins or miracle babies that would shock the world after the many years of waiting for God, but I did not expect that they would be up to five.

“In all of these, I still give God the glory because He alone can do it. Although, it is not easy to cater to five children at the same time, but we are looking unto God and well spirited individuals to come to our rescue,” the elated made said with a tone of optimism.
