A popular Nigerian singer, Tiwatope Savage better known as Tiwa Savage has put the country on the world map in a positive way as she was awarded an honorary Doctorate Degree in Music, from Kent University, UK.
Tiwa Savage and 2021 Nobel Laureate for literature, Abdulrazak Gurnah were among Kent honorary graduands for July 2022.
University of Kent, which is Tiwa Savage’s alma mater, had shortlisted her and many others to receive the prestigious degree.
In an official statement, the University of Kent described the singer as one of the inspirational individuals who will be awarded with the degree.
Tiwa Savage completed a degree in Business Administration at the University before winning a scholarship to study Professional Music at the Berklee College of Music, Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.
Tiwa Savage took to her Instagram live session to share footages from the ceremony.
The graduation ceremony took place at Canterbury and Rochester Cathedrals, USA.
Tiwa, who is an exceptional music artiste is privileged of being selected among the 10 people who will be awarded honorary degrees by the institution.
The honorary recognition from the University Of Kent is a result of Tiwa’s time and achievement in the music industry worldwide.
