There has been outrage and an outpouring of emotions over the death of a pregnant woman, who died while in labour at a General Hospital, Ogwashi-Uku in Delta state as nurses at the facility were said to have slept off on night duty.

According to report, the woman who was brought to the hospital late, fell off her delivery bed and eventually died as nurses in the employment of Delta State government allegedly left her to her fate, abandoning the pregnant woman to sleep on official duty.

It was reported that a caregiver attending to her had initially gone home to pick some delivery items. However, the colleagues she left behind abandoned the lady, only for the caregiver to shockingly discover the pregnant woman was lying on the floor dead upon her return.

As of the time of this reporting, the Delta state government and the State’s Police Command were yet to officially react to the incident.

However, a viral video of the incident showed the lifeless woman on the hospital’s floor as many have continued to call out the Hospital authority in Ogwashi-Uku and the Delta State Government over the cruel incident as health officials on government’s payroll allegedly abandoned their duty of care.
