Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent shock waves across the world as he said won’t recognize the election of United States President -elect Joe Biden until that victory has been recognized by the opposing party or confirmed by law.
According to Putin, he is willing and prepared to work with any United States President that has the confidence of the American people.
He said: “We will work with anyone who has the confidence of the American people,” Putin said on Russian state TV Sunday.
“But that confidence can only be given to a candidate whose victory has been recognized by the opposing party, or after the results are confirmed in a legitimate, legal way.”
According to Agency report Putin is still yet to recognize the election victory of Joe Biden as he has not officially congratulated him as president-elect of the United States.
Agency reports monitored by The New Diplomat showed that Putin’s comments are some of the most detailed since the U.S. election in which Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice-President, Joe Biden defeated incumbent President Donald Trump of the Republican party.
Recall that Russia had been accused by U.S. agencies of intervening or meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
Putin who described his decision not to congratulate Biden yet as “a formality” with no ulterior, or political intentions said it is mere formality with no hidden motives.
When asked if the move could damage U.S.-Russia relations, he said: “there’s nothing to damage, they’re already ruined.”
