The Senator said the bold move was a challenge to the western world, noting that Russia remains a true friend to the African continent.

In his words, “Russia’s forgiveness of Africa’s $23 Billion debt is commendable. This is a challenge to the West.Russia is a true friend of Africa in the past and present.

While Addressing the two-day day Russia-Africa summit, Putin emphasized that Moscow will closely analyze a peace proposal for Ukraine that African leaders have sought to pursue.

“This is an acute issue, and we aren’t evading its consideration,” Putin said, emphasizing that Russia is treating the African initiative with respect and “looking at it attentively.”
