American Tennis star Serena Williams and a British racing driver Lewis Hamilton have joined bid to buy Premier League giant, Chelsea FC.

Recall that former Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton has bidded to buy the club with his consortium that includes, World Athletics president Sebastian Coe and wealthy investors from around the world, who the group says all wish to maintain Chelsea’s top status in world football.

Private equity veterans Josh Harris and David Blitzer, who own sport teams including the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, are also backing Broughton’s bid.

As disclosed to newsmen, Williams and Hamilton have pledged an estimated £10 million ($13.06m) each to the bid.
