- Taps Monguno As New Chief Whip

The Senate on Wednesday announced the removal of Senator Mohamed Ali Ndume as Chief Whip.
The Senate has also announced Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno as the new Chief Whip.
The removal of Ndume, the lawmaker representing Borno South Senatorial District at the Senate came after a letter of complaint from the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Ganduje.
In the letter read by the President of the Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio, Ganduje complained that Ndume in his capacity as Chief Whip was working to bring down the country through his unguarded utterances.
After the letter was read by Akpabio, he put to voice vote for Monguno to be admitted as the Chief Whip of the Senate.
The New Diplomat reports that this comes a few days after Ndume had raised an alarm that some personalities in the Presidential Villa are allegedly sugar-coating the situation of Nigeria to Tinubu.
The Federal lawmaker had said those individuals are allegedly painting the wrong perspectives and feeding the President with lies.
He had said: “The major problem with this government is that its doors are closed, to the extent that even some ministers cannot see the President, not to mention members of the National Assembly, who do not have the opportunity to meet with him and discuss the issues affecting their constituencies.”
