. Akpabio Followers Allege INEC Bias

Senator Christopher Ekpenyong, Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has again defeated Senator Godswill Akpabio of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 25 January 2020 re-run election for Akwa Ibom Northwest Senatorial district held in Essien Udim local government Council.

The elections held on Saturday in only one local government area – Essien Udim local – in the state. It was, however, characterised by violence and ballot-stealing.

Some election officials were held hostage in the area, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said.

Total: Ekpenyong :134,717 votes to defeat! Akpabio who scored 83,820 votes according to the results declared by INEC earlier in the morning today.
