The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the redeployment of several senior officers in a bid to achieve what it called operational flexibility and optimized leadership capabilities.

According to the NAF, the move which was approved by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, aims to inject fresh perspectives into NAF operations.

In a statement issued by Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, on behalf of Air Marshal Abubakar, the CAS emphasized the importance of these redeployments in enhancing strategic flexibility and optimizing resources for the operational effectiveness of the NAF. He also stressed the need for the newly appointed officers to leverage critical thinking in formulating strategies to address the nation’s current security challenges.

Among those affected by the postings are Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Olasunkanmi Abidoye, who moves from the Defence Headquarters to the NAF Headquarters as Chief of Standards and Evaluation, and AVM Adeniyi Amesinlola, previously the Commandant at the Armed Forces Resettlement Centre, now serving as Chief of Transformation and Innovation at NAF Headquarters. AVM Abubakar Adamu has been appointed as Group Managing Director of NAFIL Group.

AVM Ibikunle Daramola, formerly Chief of Communication and Information Systems, who has been reassigned as Chief of Civil-Military Relations. AVM Abiola Amodu, the former Director General of the Air Force Research and Development Institute, will now serve as Chief of Aircraft Engineering, and AVM Patrick Phillips has been appointed as Chief of Logistics. Additionally, AVM Elijah Ebiowe takes on the role of Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Tactical Air Command in Makurdi, while AVM Sunday Aneke becomes the new AOC Mobility Command in Yenagoa. AVM Abubakar Abdullahi has been named AOC Air Training Command in Kaduna, and AVM Adeniran Ademuwagun is the new AOC Logistics Command in Ikeja.

Other key appointments include AVM Iboro Etukudo, now Chief of Policy and Plans, AVM Francis Edosa as Chief of Training and Operations, and AVM Dalhat Ladan as Chief of Air Intelligence. AVM Suleiman Usman takes over as Chief of Communication and Information Systems, while AVM Sayo Olatunde and AVM Lanre Oluwatoyin have been appointed as Chief of Defence Policy and Plans and Chief of Defence Space Administration, respectively, at the Defence Headquarters.

The CAS also harped on the importance of leveraging deep and critical thinking in proffering strategies for addressing current security challenges.
