…How  Emerhor ‘s Actions Angered Presidency, ..Burnt his Fingers

By  Our Abuja Bureau

Consequent upon last Saturday’s  free- for -all fight which occurred while Presidemt Muhammadu Buhari was reading his speech, an action reportedly occasioned  by factional members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State led by its leader, Olorogun Otega  Emerhor’s  attempt to disrupt  the APC national Convention  because he and his group were not accredited to participate in the Convention resulting in what many considered as  the group’s engagement in acts regarded as serious security breach, the Department of State Security Services(DSS) has reportedly summoned Emerhor and his allies to report to the Agency today. That was after he was briefly detained yesterday and released and directed to report today.

It was learnt that President Buhari who was seriously miffed by the conduct of Emerhor’s faction had told a visiting team made up of traditional rulers and some opinion leaders from Delta State how Emerhor and his group’s actions and conduct at the APC convention  was horrible and amounted toa  serious crime. Trouble had started when Emerhor and his group, who were initially denied access to the convention venue on account of the fact that they were not the accredited delegates from Delta State, succeeded in forcing themselves into the venue and headed straight to the Delta State Delegates stand where they attempted to dislodge supporters of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Olorogun Great Ogboru  who were already seated and in the process broken tables, chairs and bottles were freely used by angry Emerhor supporters on Omo-Agege’s loyalists.

However, the Omo-Agege supporters, however, succeeded in regaining their position at the Delta State Delegates Pavilion. Security agents including soldiers, policemen and members of the civil defence corps at the venue had quickly moved in to prevent the fight from escalating. Said a Presidential source: ” It was most annoying for Emerhor and his group to have behaved very badly. The President was already reading his speech. You disrespected, disregarded the President and caused a security scare at that event. People are really angry. I can assure you that they will be seriously punished and all those involved may be relieved of their various positions going forward for a start. First, this same Chief Emerhor instigated a group within Delta APC to start fighting Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, immediately he  announced his intention to run for the national Chairmanship position, in disobedience to the position of the highest  leadership of the APC, I mean Mr President.”

It would be recalled that Olorogun Emerhor, was Monday barred from meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.  He was to be among the delegation of the Urhobo Traditional Rulers, Leadership of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, and some Urhobo  members in the All Progressives Congress, APC, who paid President Muhammadu a courtesy visit at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja. He was prevented  from entering the villa by security operatives at the Pilot gate, while other members of the delegation went in freely.
