…Says Tinubu Has Capacity To Chart A New Course For Nigeria

Lagos State Governor,. Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has, again, appreciated Lagosians for the massive vote of confidence in re-electing him, assuring that the second term will be greater than the first which ends on May 29, 2023.

Speaking at the Year 2023 Eid-El-Fitr Celebration organised by the First Family and the State Government and held at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja to commemorate the end of Ramadan, Sanwo-Olu said his second term will be characterized by deliberate programs and initiatives to consolidate on the Greater Lagos Rising journey already firmly in place.

“Without you the people, there is no government. I thank you all for your support; I thank our spiritual leaders and most importantly thank God for the opportunity to witness the end of another Ramadan.

“Let me assure you all that my second term will be greater than the first and with your prayer and support, we will deliver a greater Lagos Rising which will improve the quality of life and which will make life more meaningful for a lot more of you.

“This is all we are about and what we will be doing so that your businesses will grow and security of lives and property will continue to remain one of our primary responsibilities and we will not let you down on this.

“I want to thank you all very much for all the support you have given to Mr Deputy Governor and my self, the Cabinet members and the entire workers having done this in the last four years and to say to you that we are encouraged to say that the additional four years will even be bigger, better and stronger than the last four years that we have seen,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He urged the people to continue to pray for the country and also the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing optimism that Tinubu has the capacity to chart a new course for Nigeria.

“I have no doubt that the President-Elect will deliver a renewed hope for Nigeria and Nigerians,” the Governor said.

Also, the Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat admonished the people to pray for the peace, progress and comfort of the country, assuring that with prayer and hardwork, Nigeria will experience growth and development.

He also urged parents to take more than a passing interest in the training of the children, in order to build a society populated by people of excellence in character and knowledge.

In her welcome address, the First Lady, Dr Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu said the celebration was organised as part of the inclusive governance stance of the state government to commemorate the end of Ramadan.

“Ramadan, as we know, is a spiritual exercise that teaches the virtues of love, tolerance, forgiveness, brotherhood, neighborliness, sacrifice, self-denial, piousness, and generosity, among others.

“Beyond Ramadan, we are expected to sustain the principles and teachings of the Holy Month which among others impose an obligation on us to be peaceful, truthful, kind, compassionate, and always live harmoniously with people who cross our path,” she said.
