Less than 12 hours after the Lagos State Park Management Chairman, Musiliuim Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo threatened Igbo residents in Lagos to remain at home if they would not vote for the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Babajide Sanwo-Olu, some thugs, suspected to be his loyalists attacked members of the Labour Party (LP) at Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos.

The suspected APC thugs who were armed with matchets, knives, guns and other dangerous weapons, swooped on the LP members and supporters in an Eatery in Bode Thomas as they were preparing for their campaign.

The gun wielding thugs in their numbers reportedly inflicted bodily injuries on the LP members.

An eye witness who would not want his name in print, disclosed that over twenty seven LP members are currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Lagos from injury sustained during the melee.

Another eye witness who preffered anonymity told The New Diplomat that the hungry looking thugs who were already soaked in alcohol, also dispossessed the LP members and supporters of their valuables.
His words: “we don’t want an Igbo man to rule Lagos State. This is an APC state. This is just a warning to them and others who would dare to vote other political party instead of the APC, that was the threat from one of the thugs before they left us in sorrow and blood.”

When The New Diplomat visited the Eatery in Bode Thomas, Surulere venue of fracas, the walls of the Eatery were riddled with bullets holes.

A lady who was crying profusely narrating her ordeal in the hands of the touts, disclosed that she was harassed and finally dispossessed of proceeds from her sales.

Our investigation also revealed that the vaults of the Eatery were emptied by the rampaging thugs just as hand sets of Party members and supporters were forcefully taken away from them.

As at the time of this report, the Lagos State police command and the LP were yet to make a statement in this regard.
