Many residents in Ojekunle Street, Papa Ajao area of Lagos state have been feared dead in a gas explosion which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to reports, the explosion came from a gas store located in Ojekunle Street.

Although, the cause of the explosion remains sketchy as of press time, reports have it that several persons sustained various degrees of injuries, while several other properties were destroyed.

Confriming the incident, the Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs Margret Adeseye, said the agency received reports about the gas explosion at about 8.42a.m.

She also disclosed that a rescue team was deployed immediately and that three men have been rescued from the incident.

In her words, “Three male adults have been recovered as rescue and recovery operations continue in an environment isolated from causing any further secondary incident.

“Preliminary investigations to establish the fact of the incident continue and further discovery will be made public”.
