The appointment of the Wife of the late Prophet TB Joshua as a trustee of his church has been approved by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.

Justice Tijjani Ringim gave the ruling on Thursday and declared Mrs Evelyn Joshua as a trustee of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN).

The judge made the ruling on a petition by Kola Kareem and Moji Oguntoyinbo on behalf of all the members of SCOAN.

In the petition, they requested that Mrs Evelyn Joshua be made to replace her late husband as a member of the church trustees, in line with the constitution of the church which prescribes a minimum of three trustees for SCOAN.

The petition was filed after the sudden death of the late General Overseer of SCOAN, Prophet T. B. Joshua, who was also a church trustee.

In the petition, they argued that the two surviving members of the Board of Trustees lacked the legal capacity to make decisions necessary to move the church forward, as the Board of Trustees was not made up of the right number of people.

“In the circumstances, it became imperative for an additional trustee to be appointed to fill the vacancy created by the untimely death of the deceased founder,” they maintained.

With no objections from any of the respondents, the court quickly approved and it is expected that the judgement will provide further clarity on who replaces the late TB Joshua.

There had been earlier unconfirmed reports that Evelyn Joshua had emerged as the General Overseer (GO) of the church.

According to media reports, the church authorities decided to appoint Evelyn as the successor of the televangelist, during a meeting.

TB Joshua passed away on June 5, days before his birthday. Since the demise of the renowned cleric, there have been many debates regarding the successor of the church.

The televangelist during his lifetime performed many healing, miracles as well as philanthropic activities.

Evelyn got married to T.B Joshua in 1990 and is said to have been serving as the second in command to her husband all along. She has also been actively participating in church activities. She gives sermons and also offers counselling to the church members.

The couple were married for 31 years and had three children together.
