According to reports, the anti-graft agency arrested him on Thursday in Abuja and had begun interrogation.

Ardo was also alleged to have contravened the civil service rules which prohibit serving civil servants from participating in political activities.

Prior to his arrest, Ardo had declared his intention to run for the governorship election in Gombe State on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and as well contested the primary election.

Many had called for his resignation letter as he joined partisan politics without resigning from his position as the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
