US lawmakers escalate Christian genocide narrative, accuse Nigeria of downplaying targeted killings

By Obinna Uballa The Nigerian government’s push to counter the Christian-genocide narrative promoted by the Donald Trump administration appears to be gaining little traction, as United States lawmakers have forcefully rejected Abuja’s position on alleged targeted killings of Christians during a rare joint congressional briefing on 'escalating religious violence in Nigeria.' Trump Effect in Gen. Musa’s Ministerial Appointment

By Farooq Kperogi While I am delighted that President Bola Tinubu appears to be taking security more seriously than he previously did (signaled by the appointment of General Christopher Musa as the new Minister of Defence, and hopefully this isn’t just a change in personnel without a substantive change in the approach to stamping out…

It’s a long haul, by Hakeem Baba-Ahmed

The crisis between Russia and Ukraine has shown no sign of abating as tension continues to brew.

This is as the Russian Ministry of Defence on Tuesday revealed that Ukraine allegedly fired long-range missiles into Russia.

The military said the long-range missiles allegedly fired by Ukraine were purportedly supplied by the United States.

The allegations come days after US President Joe Biden was alleged to have permitted Ukraine to attack Russia.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Defence in Moscow, Ukraine allegedly used the Army Tactical Missile System (Atacms) in a strike on Russia’s Bryansk region in the early hours of Tuesday.

The Ministry said five missiles were purportedly shot down and one damaged, with its fragments causing a fire at a military facility in the region.

The New Diplomat reports that the purported strike represents the first time long-range missiles have been used on Russia’s internationally recognised territory, a situation that could cause escalated tension between Russia and Ukraine.
