Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State, Rev. Joseph Hayab has bombed Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State over the current spate of insecurity in the state.
The CAN Chairman who criticised El-Rufai, said he’s not doing enough to tackle insecurity elements bedeviling the state, suggesting it seems the Governor has been working as the spokesman of the armed bandits terrorising the state and the northern part of the country.
Kaduna state which has been witnessing increasing spate of insecurity, is currently under bandits’ siege. Several killings, kidnappings have been orchestrated in the state, with the recent being the kidnapp of scores of passengers on board a train transiting from Abuja to Kaduna state.
Reacting to the worsening situation, Hayab, while speaking with Arise TV, monitored by The New Diplomat, claimed the body language of El-Rufai shows he is knowledgeable of the workings of the bandits wreaking havoc in the state.
According to the CAN Chairman, El-Rufai has spoken in support of the bandits more times than speaking for the people who elected him into office.
In his words: “So when I say that he’s (El-Rufai) a spokesman for them (bandits) in the past, anytime, either CAN, either elders or any group. Look, even elders when kidnapping was rampant in the North and they came out and cry, they accused the elders and insulted them as if they have no right to speak. So it’s not just one side is doing that.
“That’s why we feel that if leader who’s supposed to… because what we expect of our governor at that time is to say “bandits you cannot be terrorising my people, I will not take it, I will do everything within my power to expose bandits to stop this evil you are doing,” but he was now blaming people for crying because bandits attacked them. If he blames us for crying because we are being killed, he blames us for crying because we cannot go to our farmlands; he blames us for crying because we are being kidnapped, then what is he? if we look for the title that fits him we don’t find, we may think that he has actually been appointed by the bandits as a spokesperson.
“And that’s why I suggested that he is actually the spokesman of the bandits because if you go back you would find that our governor has spoken for the bandits more than speaking for the people.”
