Cristiano Ronaldo, a towering soccer figure globally, who recently became the highest goalscorer in international football, entering the iconic Guinness world record book has touched down in Manchester, UK after sealing the sensational move to Manchester United FC.

The superstar forward was released early from the Portuguese squad after picking up a suspension for celebrating his stoppage-time winner against the Republic of Ireland.

Ronaldo returned to the club that shot him to fame, Manchester United from Juventus on a two-year contract, with the option to extend for another year.

Ronaldo was reportedly greeted on arrival at a private terminal at Manchester Airport by former team-mate and the club’s technical director Darren Fletcher.

The 36-year-old was released early from the Portugal squad after picking up a suspension for celebrating his stoppage-time winner in a 2-1 World Cup qualifying win over the Republic of Ireland.

It was the second of two goals which saw the player create a new world record for international goals scored (111).

By so doing the five time Ballon d’Or winner surpassed Ali Daei’s previous mark of 109 goals.

Ronaldo, who will once again wear the iconic No 7 shirt, is expected to feature for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in the Premier League clash against Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Saturday, September 11.

He has also been included in Manchester United’s 25-man Champions League squad, with the first game against Swiss side Young Boys on Tuesday, September 14.
