A former Senator who represented Kaduna Central in the Nigerian Parliament, Sani Shehu, has reacted to the peace accord recently signed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike and Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara.

The Senator in his reaction said that the agreement reached by the political gladiators, outwardly paved the way for peace to reign at the moment, but internally gave more time for another round of war.

Sani in a post on his X handle on Monday, said, “I have now read the Rivers agreement. The accord will remove the knife from the neck of Sim and set it behind his back.

“The accord will bury the hatchets with leaves. The accord outwardly sells peace, but internally buys time for another round of war.

“However, it can be better if the dialogue is periodically assessed and improved upon.”

It would be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yesterday, summoned to a meeting Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, his predecessor Nyesom Wike and other political actors in the state.

Apart from Messrs Fubara and Wike, others who signed the resolution, the PDP chairperson in Rivers State, Aaron Chukwuemeka, and the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule also partake in the peace deal.

The resolution was also signed by Rivers Deputy Governor Ngozi Ordu and a factional Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martin Chike.
