  • Fubara: I will now continue to Expose the Anus of the Fowl…

By Abiola Olawale

The on-going political crisis rocking Rivers State has further escalated into a full blown confrontation with developments indicating that Governor Siminalayi Fubara has lifted his foot off the pedal, and is fully prepared to go against his predecessor, Chief Nyesom Wike.

This is as the Governor described Wike as a rat that is eating the bag of garri stored in a house.

It appears that Fubara might have likened Wike to a destroyer who enjoys soiling the efforts of others. Rats as animals are well-known known for their destructive nature. And when they are in a place, their preoccupation is to eat and destroy valuable items in the house in question.

Fubara gave this analogy on Tuesday, during the inauguration of the Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo Road, also known as Old Bori Road in the Eleme Local Government Area of the state.

He said: “If we are fighting the Federal Government, it is a different matter. We are talking of the Federal Government that is giving us support but the rat in the house is eating the bag of garri. You can imagine such a situation. So I will continue to identify with good governance.”

Speaking earlier during the commissioning event, the governor accused Wike of leaving huge debt in the state.

Fubara said that a substantial portion of the projects inaugurated by the previous administration remained incompletely remunerated, adding that several contractors, used by the previous administration, have been meeting him to pay the outstanding balances.

He said: “As we are going we will be going with the white paper to show the records and the cost of the projects. It was awarded at the cost of N6.7 billion. I can say that we have paid the contractor completely.

“The purpose of this is to let the world know that if there is one problem this administration has, it is debt. In most of the projects that were commissioned, the contractors are coming for their balance running into billions.

“I said I don’t want to talk because I am part of the system. But when you continue to push me I will say it so that they will see the nyash of the fowl.

“Aleto is a bypass that if you cannot access the East-West road, can take you away from the bad section to the good section of the East-West road. Is what we are doing today not a help to the Federal Government and a show that this government has the interest and the support of the people and is doing everything to make the Federal Government succeed?

“So when people come and say funny things, I start laughing. It is not social media, we are talking about actions. We are taking actions that make positive impacts in the lives of our people”.

The New Diplomat reports that Rivers State has been in the news for over six months following the open hostilities between Fubara and Wike. While the reasons for the acrimony between the duo remain top secret, some inside sources say Wike and Fubara are purportedly battling for control of the oil-rich state’s resources and political machinery.

Sources reveal that with the decision of the state government to set up a panel of inquiry into the expenditure and governance of Rivers State in the last eight years, it is clear that Fubara is going for Wike’s jugular.
