Emeka Beke, who was recently reinstated as the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter of Rivers State, has lauded a recent judgment of the Rivers State High Court.

Beke, who addressed the press on Tuesday, stated that the court’s decision affirms the legitimacy of his leadership within the party.

It would be recalled that the Rivers State High Court, sitting in Port Harcourt, had on Monday dismissed the APC seven-member Caretaker Committee led by Tony Okocha, which was appointed by the National Working Committee of the APC.

Justice Sika Aprioku, in a ruling on a suit filed by Sam Sam Etetegwung and others on behalf of the APC executive in the state, reinstated the executive led by Beke as the legitimate leadership of the party in Rivers State.

In his reaction, Beke accused Okocha of executing the script of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

He claimed that Okocha is not a member of the APC.

He said: “I have taken over the leadership of the party in the state and will ensure I stabilize the party.

“Tony Okocha is playing Wike’s script, he’s not a member of our party.

“My name is Emeka Beke, and I remain the Chairman of APC in Rivers State; IPAC is meeting today, and I will attend as chairman of the party.

The party Chief also spoke on the alleged association of Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi with Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

He continued: “I worked with Rotimi Amaechi and he is my leader, and he has no link with Fubara.

“If he extends a hand of fellowship to APC, we will work with him and develop the state. We can’t continue fighting; Rivers is going backwards.

“You can’t have two governors in one state, even if your son is made governor, you should allow him to function.

“We have finished the politicking; it’s now time for governance.”
