Members of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers have been thrown into sadness over the murder of Chisom Lenard, the campaign coordinator of Tonye Cole, the governorship candidate of the party in Ahoada-West Local Council of the state.

Lenard, a chartered Surveyor, was reportedly shot dead by hired political thugs in police camouflage while he was resisting their attempt to hijack election materials during Saturday’s governorship election.

It was learnt that the political thugs had taken his bullet ridden bullets away and later dumped it by a street corner.

The death of Lenard in the clash with political thugs was conformed in a viral video posted online in late hours of yesterday.

The APC Chieftain hailed from Ubeta Community in Ahoada West local government area.

Until his death, he was the leader of Ward 10 leader of APC and Tonye Cole Campaign Coordinator for Ahoada West Local Council.

Darlington Nwauju, the Spokesman of APC in Rivers confirmed the murder of Lenard.

At the time of filing this report, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of Rivers command merely said: “I called the DPO Akinima (headquarters of Ahoada West LGA) and he said there was no any report or information about that.”

There is also report about the abduction of APC Port Harcourt Constituency 2 Candidate for the Rivers State House of Assembly, Chief Emeka Ede yesterday night.

Police is yet to respond to enquires on the veracity of the report despite inquiries.
