Popular Barbadian songstress, Robyn Rihanna has received a lifetime honour at this year’s Met Gala as she was immortalised in a marble statue at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The statue is inspired by Rihanna’s May 2022 cover shoot for Vogue magazine in which she sported a semi-sheer lace catsuit.
The 34-year-old singer was unable to attend this year’s star-studded event as she is heavily pregnant with her first child with boyfriend A$AP Rocky.
But the Umbrella hitmaker was certainly not forgotten as a towering statue of her, complete with a baby bump, was unveiled.
The statue was shown in a video shared on Vogue’s Instagram account, which comes after Rihanna graced the cover of this month’s issue.
Rihanna also shared the video on her account and wrote: ‘shut down the met in marble! what’s more gilded than that? Lol!
‘Thank you @metmuseum and @voguemagazine for this historic tribute! y’all bad for this one!’
She also took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to acknowledge the recognition: “Shut down the met in marble! what’s more gilded than that? Lol! Thank you for this historic tribute! y’all bad for this one.”
