The House of Representatives, on Thursday, began a probe into the alleged illicit trade of human penises between Nigeria and China.

A cargo conveying about 7,200 ‘refrigerated penises’ was reportedly seized recently by the Chinese General Administration of Customs.

Following the reports, a bill was sponsored on Thursday by Rimamnde Kwewum, representing Donga, Takum, Ussa and Yangtu Federal Constituency of Taraba and was co-sponsored by Olajide Olatubosun representing Atisbo, Saki-East and Saki-West Federal Constituency of Oyo State.

Moving the motion, Kwewum said the Chinese authorities seized a cargo ship that sailed from Nigeria with 7,200 refrigerated penises.

According to him, they were found in 36 boxes labelled “plantains” on the ship that harboured at the Shanghai port called Red Market.

The lawmaker also raised alarmed that the number of illicit trade of human organs linked with Africa, especially Nigeria, is appalling. He noted too that the Chinese General Administration of Customs had also alerted of an increasingly large number of human organs linked with Africa.

Kwewum warned that the increasing cases of abductions, killings, across the country might not be unconnected with the illicit trade in human organs.

The Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Wase, who presided over the session, mandated the committees on Human Rights and National Security and Intelligence to investigate the report and report back within 10 weeks.
