House of Representatives Minority Caucus has backed Senators in the opposition parties in their moves to serve President Muhammadu Buhari an impeachment notice at the expiration of a six weeks ultimatum given to him to address insecurity in the country.

The House Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu, gave a hint of the development when he spoke with newsmen on Thursday.

The briefing came after a closed meeting of the House Minority Caucus with the Peoples Democratic Party Senate Caucus led by Senator Philip Aduda at the National Assembly in Abuja.

Elumelu said the House of Representatives is on the same page with the upper chamber on the issue of insecurity bedeveiling the country under the watch of the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government.

He lamented that Abuja, “the seat of power, is no longer safe and we cannot continue to fold our arms till things get out of hands”.

Elumelu said: “Recently, Kuje Prison was attacked and as if that was not enough, Minister of Education directed that all students should vacate their campuses.

“Similarly, the FCT has also directed that schools in the FCT should hurriedly close because of insecurity.

“Abuja is no longer safe and things are at a standstill.”

Elumelu who added that on many occasions, the National Assembly had drawn the attention of President Buhari to the insecurity in the land, said the government has failed to do anything concrete to address it.
