The Lagos police command has announced the successful rescue of the three abducted Fouani brothers after three days in captivity.

Recall that The New Diplomat reported that the abduction of Fouani and his brothers occurred on Friday , June 14, 2024, near a Falomo Bridge in Ikoyi, Lagos, while the victims were traveling by water from Apapa to Victoria Island.

Recall that the brothers are associated with Fouani Nigeria Ltd, a company which specializes in electronics and serves as the sole distributor of LG, Hisense, and Maxi products in Nigeria. They were abducted while returning from their factory by boat.

Reports indicated that the abductors contacted the company and the victims’ families, demanding a ransom of $1.5 million.

Confirming their release, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the Lagos Marine Police, with support from the Nigerian Navy, achieved the rescue.

The police had assured the public they were working “tirelessly” to secure the victims’ release. On Monday night, the victims, including the boat driver and his assistant, were freed in Orugbo Iddo.

Hundeyin stated:“They were rescued late last night in Orugbo Iddo. Our marine police, with the support of the Nigerian Navy, brought them to shore,”

“Thereafter, our tactical team in the area took them home to Banana Island in the early hours of today. Five of them, three Lebanese, the boat captain, and his assistant,” he added.
