The Portugal captain powered a header beyond Igor Akinfeev from a Raphael Guerreiro cross in the eighth minute.
The European champions were held by Mexico in their opening game in Group A with Ronaldo providing an assist for Ricardo Quaresma in Sunday’s 2-2 draw.
