The Federal Government has reiterated its dedication to advancing stability, development, and sustainability within Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
Dr. Tunji Alausa, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, made this commitment during the handover ceremony of the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Jalingo, Taraba State, to the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare on Thursday in Abuja.
Alausa outlined the administration’s focus on governance and improving population health outcomes as central to President Bola Tinubu’s healthcare reform agenda. He highlighted the importance of strengthening governance to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability in health services across the country.
He noted that the ongoing reforms are guided by four key pillars, including expanding access to primary healthcare services and tackling critical public health challenges.
Taraba Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Alkali, expressed optimism that the new hospital would be a significant healthcare center in Northern Nigeria, serving as a beacon of hope for communities in the region. He emphasized the hospital’s potential impact, not only in Taraba State but across the entire country.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Daju Kachallom, underscored the urgency of addressing critical health challenges facing the nation. She highlighted the ministry’s determination to finalize long-standing proposals aimed at improving healthcare nationwide.
