Several Reactions have trailed a statement credited to Mr. Seyi Tinubu son of Nigeria’s president Bola Tinubu, to the effect that Nigerians should exercise patience and endurance amidst mounting economic hardship across the country.
This follows his Instagram post where he empathized with Nigerians regarding”burdens that should have been shed years ago.”
Quoting his father, President Tinubu, Seyi wrote: “There is no joy in seeing the people shoulder burdens that should have been shed years ago…But we must endure if we are to reach the good side of our future.”
However, in quick reactions, many Nigerians have objected to his message . “Quoting this should be the easiest thing when the hardship has no effect on you,” a user @rk_wahcott shot back
@king_and01 also dissented: “The Issue on ground now isn’t about enduring or not, the major concern now is how are we sure there is going to be light at the end of the tunnel? We are used to being promised and at the end of the day it is another story. The past government use a whole Right years to blame the PDP administration, yet nothing good eventually came out of it. Nigerians adapt quickly to circumstances so I doubt if it’s going to be beyond these their current complaints. Let the government begin from their own. Let them cut their expenses and block some linkages in the government. Let’s see actions more than mere words”
However, others such as @habbytech01 expressed understanding: “We get it, but measures are needed to ease the masses’ troubles.”
Another user, @qtbc expressed continued faith in the present administration, saying “If only people knew the plans God has via BAT. We’re optimistic for the best soon.”
Since the controversial post, Seyi Tinubu has limited comments access to his post. With protests spreading, across the country recently up to Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, over rising costs of living, the government faces increasing pressures for quick response to the teeming challenges
