The news of the reported trip of President Muhammadu Buhari and the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the European countries during week left Nigerians in awe.

The duo who departed Nigeria separately to different countries were on a different mission.

While President Buhari was in the UK to attend to his hearing problem, the President elect was reported to have travelled to France on behalf of Nigeria.

The spontaneous jetting out of the incumbent and incoming Presidents has elicited divergent reactions from different media platforms as monitored by The New Diplomat.
Excerpts:

Rufai Oseni Arise TV:

It’s a shame that for eight good years the ruling All Progressives Congres, APC could not fix hospitals in Nigeria. For common Ear problem, our president, Buhari has to travelled to the United Kingdom treat Ear problem. This is unacceptable and disgrace to us as a nation.

Reuben Abati Arise TV:

That our president travelled to seek medical attention for mere Ear problem tells of the level of decay in our hospitals. Hence, Nigeria medical doctors are leaving the country in droves to seek greener pastures in Europe, Asian countries and the United States of America, USA. They surely don’t have facilities to work with. I can assure you that Nigerian medical doctors are making waves all over the world. You might even be surprised to know that the medical doctors attending to the President in the UK may be Nigerians. What a shame.
As the President elect, I will advise he remains calm. Nigeria cannot have two President at the same time. Let him wait until he’s sworn in before he starts taking responsibility of as the President. We heard the President elect has moved to the Defence House and he is almost everywhere performing one function or the other. I don’t know when President elect becomes an office in Nigeria as our constitution does not allow it.

Shehu Sani in Twitter Handle:

What shame? President Buhari assumed leadership of Nigeria with the treatment of teeth problem. Now on his exit from the office, he is treating Ear problem.

Fidelis Oghene Twitter:

Nigerians cannot be fooled a second time. President elect to travel to France to check his failing health. I wonder which firm in Europe will be agitating business proposal with President elect. The Whiteman is not so daft. Let Tinubu’s handlers look for another lie please.

Tosin Debo Twits:

Whether PDP likes it or not, Tinubu is Nigeria’s President from May 29 this year. He is already working to put Nigeria on track. People must talk and let them say.

Isa Umaru Twits:

President Muhammadu Buhari upon assumption of office, sworn to NIgerians that he would leave the country better than he met it. Eight years after his reign, Buhari cannot find a well equipped hospital to attend to his hearing impairment. Let posterity be the judge here.

Osagie EdoBoy Twits:

Nigerians are leaving the country everyday in the numbers to seek for survival and not greener pastures anymore, and government is celebrating. It is becoming increasingly difficult to survive in Nigeria. The huge debt the Buhari’s administration has piled up for the next government is outrageous. We cannot continue like this as a nation.

Kizu Benue Twits:

There must be a paradigm shift if we must make a leeway as a nation. Nigeria is 100 years back. Yet, some people want us to keep quiet. Every minute of every second, NIgerians are dying of hunger, common sickness, the fear of the unknown, from the sharp knives of fulani herdsmen and bullets fired by unknown gunmen.

Warri Boy Twits:

The two Ancestors pinning down the progress of Nigeria. Though I dare not complain of their age because of the US President, Joe Biden who has announced his second term ambition at what age. But he is fit, with proven capacity and competence. But I dare not say same of our incumbent President and the President elect who have both made hospitals in Europe an extension of their abode.
