Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, SAN has described the late Queen Elizabeth II as a monarch for all occasions who united people from all over the world.

He made this statement on Sunday during a brief tribute at the Lancaster House.

At various points throughout the day on Sunday, the Vice President joined other international leaders in paying their respects to the late British monarch at the Queen’s lying-in-state.

Among other royals and Heads of State, Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada, Joe Biden, and Emmanuel Macron attended Westminster Hall to watch the lying-in-state alongside the Vice President.

Osinbajo on the condolence register wrote, “Nigeria joins the government and people of the UK, the Commonwealth and rest of the world in expressing our sincere condolence to the royal family on the passing of a monarch for all seasons. May the Lord bless her memory.”

Later, Prof. Osinbajo and the UK Foreign Secretary met privately to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral economic connections, with a focus on growing business possibilities for Nigerian companies and advancing the nation’s climate goals.

They also talked about how crucial it is to fortify the international coalition against insecurity in the Sahel and horn of Africa.

In a related report, Chinese leaders were allowed to attend the Queen’s lying-in-state, according to the UK Parliament.

This is despite some MPs saying they were assured this week by the Commons Speaker that a Chinese delegation would not be welcome in Westminster Hall.
