There has been tension in Enugu State, following the reported missing of Catholic Priest and Spiritual Director, Adoration Ministry, Rev. Fr Ejike Mbaka.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide (OYC), on Wednesday, raised alarm over the whereabouts of the Enugu priest.

The OYC claimed that Mbaka has been missing since Tuesday.

According to the youths, the priest has not been answering any call since Tuesday which raised suspicions about his whereabouts.

Mbaka has been in the news since calling for the impeachment or resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mbaka who berated the President over the current security situation in the country called for his resignation, stating that he is not fit to lead the country.

However, presidency in its reaction claimed that the priest was only upset about the refusal by Buhari to award him the contract he pleaded for. The presidency stated that the priest came to demand for contract as a reward for supporting Buhari in the 2015 and 2019 presidential elections.

However, in a statement issued by the President-General of OYC, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, claimed that Mbaka was last seen on Tuesday, adding that every effort to trace him had failed.

The statement reads: “We have it on good authority that his aides have neither seen nor heard from him since Tuesday.

“Calls put to his mobile line have also remained unanswered; this has now prompted us to issue this alarm as we would not take it lightly should anything untoward happen to him.

“We are giving the Federal Government 48 hours to produce the priest, else they should be ready to face Igbo youths. They were dining and wining with him all along and now that he told the truth, they are no longer comfortable with him.

“Let nothing happen to Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka. It will not be in anybody’s interest,” the group warned.

Following the reports, the supporters of the Enugu priest, who are also members of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, took to the streets to protest the disappearance of Mbaka.

According to the protesters, Mbaka was allegedly arrested by some security operatives.

They disclosed this in a viral video as supporters of the priest were seen marching to the Catholic Bishop of the Enugu Diocese, causing gridlock.
