George Weah, President of Liberia, Dani Rodrik, a professor of international political economy at John F Kennedy School of Government, Havard University, have been confirmed among guests that will deliver keynote address at the 2021 edition of Bola Tinubu Colloquium.
This was disclosed on the official Twitter handle of the Tinubu’s Colloquium organising committee.
The 12th edition of the Tinubu’s Colloquium is themed “Our Common Bond, Our Common Wealth: The imperative of National Cohesion for Growth and Prosperity.”
The theme is expected to address the need for national unity and national cohesion amid the recent calls for secession by various groups across the country.
The Tinubu Colloquium is an event organized to celebrate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was a former Lagos State Governor and one of the national leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Colloquium was conceived in 1999 by Tinubu’s close friends and associates. This year marks the 12th edition of the Colloquium.
President Weah, will be speaking on the consequences of civil war, while emphasising the importance of national reconciliation, trust-building for the forging of national cohesion and unity well as bringing a country back from the brink.
President Weah, who is the 25th President of Liberia is expected to recount the experiences of Liberia during the first civil war which began on December 24 1989 and lasted till August 2, 1997; and the second civil war which began on April 21, 1999 and lasted till August 18, 2003.
Similarly, Rodrik, a Turkish economist, is expected to deliver address on the political and economic development of the country. He will deliver a keynote address titled: “Where Can Growth Go? The Social Conflict Push.”
He will speak along the line of his thoughts as promoted in his work, “Where did all the Growth Go? External Shocks, Social Conflict, and Growth Collapses.”
