Former Nigerian president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on Thursday met with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other top dignitaries in London.

In attendance were Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Donald Duke, former governor of Cross Rivers — who are Wike’s allies.

Although details of the meeting were yet to be made public, it may not be unrelated to strategies ahead of the 2023 presidential elections.

The meeting also comes as top politicians in the country have continued to seek new alliances in a bid to defeat rivals, bolster their interests and form a new government in 2023.
